The international news channel RT en Español, owned by the Russian state, will return to the DTT platform in Argentina, after it reached a new agreement with the Argentine Government.
RT was removed from the DTT grid last June. However, on July 15 RT reached a new deal to continue broadcasting in the country. The head of the National Directorate of Contents at RT Group, Alberto Ligaluppi, and the Assistant Director, Victoria Vorontsova, met with the Head of the Federal System of Public Media and Content of Argentina (SFMCP), Hernán Lombardi. The new agreement will be signed on October 27.
During the meeting, the agenda included the exchange of programming projects, the presence of RT in digital TV, reciprocity to spread Argentine content in Russia and several co-productions according to the strategic relationship between the countries, reported a statement from SFMCP.
RT en Español was launched in 2009 with permanent correspondents in Miami in the US, Buenos Aires in Argentina, Madrid in Spain, Caracas in Venezuela and Havana in Cuba. The channel was included in Argentina’s DTT in October 2014.
