Russian channel RT closes distribution deal with TuVes HD and expands its presence in Latin America

The international news channel RT en Español, owned by the Russian state, signed a distribution agreement with the Satellite operator TuVes HD and expanded its presence in Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay and Dominican Republic.

Under the agreement, the channel became available in the DTH services using TuVes’ wholesale platform: Viva Dominicana (Dominican Republic), Inter Satelital Bolivia, TuVes (Chile) and Personal TV (Paraguay).

According to RT’s website, in the last couple of years the network started a major expansion in the region. In December 2014 became available on Venezuela’s state television network. In September 2015 RT began airing on TV Entel Bolivia; while in February 2016 arrived to Telecable International in Cuba.

However, last month the channel was removed from the grid of the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) system in Argentina, within days of the withdrawal of international Venezuelan channel Telesur.
