Philo, the service backed by pay TV content providers, has launched a sports-free live TV bundle with 37 channels for USD 16 per month. The offer includes entertainment, lifestyle and educational content, according to TechCrunch.
The programming features channels A&E, AMC, Animal Planet, BBC America, Comedy Central, Discovery Channel, Food Network, HGTV, HISTORY, Investigation Discovery, IFC, Lifetime, MTV, Nickelodeon and TLC, among others. For an additional USD 4 users add another nine channels.
Media groups A+E, AMC, Discovery, Scripps and Viacom, invested USD 25 million to launch this service, which does not include broadcasters ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX in the programming. Next year the service will launch an integrated social platform that will allow viewers to share their favorite shows with family and friends.
