Netflix announced that it will launch its first Colombian original series, which will be available worldwide in 2019. The executive producer will be Oscar-nominated Ciro Guerra (Embrace of the Serpent).
The series will begin shooting in 2018 and will be entirely in 4K. It will feature eight one-hour episodes. The plot follows the story of a young detective and her partner who travel deep into the Amazon, on the border of Brazil and Colombia, to investigate a series of bizarre murders. They soon realize that there’s more intrigue to the jungle than the homicides, as they come across a mysterious indigenous tribe with an extraordinary secret that they will go to great lengths to protect.
“From 2011, we have been committed to providing a great service in Colombia, and this show, with local talent, will add to our incredible slate of originals throughout Latin America,” said Erik Barmack, VP of International Originals.
The new series will be produced by Diego Ramirez and Dynamo (Narcos, El Chapo) and written by Carlos Contreras (El Chapo). Netflix had already filmed in Colombia Narcos, but it is not a 100% Colombian product.
