Through a video posted on its Facebook, Netflix announced that Televisa’s content is no longer part of its catalog. The Mexican company had already announced it would withdraw its contents in order to strengthen Blim, its own streaming service.
The video shows a compilation of images of Televisa’s telenovelas and the phrase “is hard to say goodbye”. Among the telenovelas that appear in the video are “Teresa”, “Rebelde”, “Rubi”, “Las tontas no van al cielo” and “El juego de la vida”.
In March this year, Televisa said it would withdraw – in the last quarter of the year – all its contents available on the American OTT to have them exclusively in its VOD platform Blim. The service of the Mexican media giant competes with Netflix, but also with Claro Video, America Movil’s streaming platform, which has a strong presence in Mexico.
