Netflix plans to produce more international series


Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos said in a conference this week that the streaming service plans to launch 30 original local-language series next year. In this context, the executive highlighted the success of German production Dark and Brazilian show 3%.
“What’s really exciting is that the content we’re producing for the world, both in English and in local languages, has proved to be very global,” the executive said at the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference, according to Digital TV.
Sarandos said Netflix would produce 50 original series globally this year. The company plans to reach a 50-50 mix between acquired and original content by 2019.
The executive also mentioned that Netflix plans to release around 80 films next year. In addition, the streaming giant will release 60 global series, 60 kids’ shows and 20 anime originals. Netflix would spend up to USD 8 billion on content next year.
