Netflix announced five new original productions in Argentina

Netflix keeps launching new original productions for Latin America for the upcoming years. This time, the OTT announced that it will order five new productions in Argentina. These add to Edha, the first original series produced in the South American country that is already in post-production.

“Latin America is the territory with the greatest growth for Netflix,” acknowledged the company’s Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos, at a press conference held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. With this statement, he explained why the OTT is investing so much in the region, where it already has 16 original productions made in Argentina, Mexico and Brazil, counting both the projects already premiered and those that are still in production, recording or post-production stage.

A musical series for teenagers titled “Go!” is amongst the contents to be produced in Argentina. Netflix also announced a film about the life of pope Francis, “The Pope”, starring Jonathan Price and Anthony Hopkins; and the documentary “Boca Juniors: The Pre-season”, that will show the training of the Argentine football team in four chapters. In addition, the company will produce another documentary titled “Fangio: The Man Who Tamped the Machines “, about the Argentine automobile pilot; and a series of stand-up numbers with six local comedians.
