Movistar launches DTH in Costa Rica

Movistar has commercially launched its prepaid DTH service in Costa Rica. The basic package, called Plan Pro HD, includes 15 HD channels, 54 in SD and three national TV networks for a monthly price of ¢9,900 (USD 17).
The offer includes four plans. The options Pro HD + HBO MAX (77 channels, 20 in HD) and PRO HD + FOX (also with 77 channels) are priced at ¢15,900 (USD 27.6) each. In turn, the most expensive plan -Full HD- brings 82 channels (including FOX and HBO packs) for ¢19,900 (USD 3.5).
Local newspaper El Financiero reported that the prepaid kit with antenna and a HD box is priced at ¢ 50,000 (USD 86.7). The company also offers the Smart HD decoder for ¢ 58,000 (USD 100), which connects to the Internet and gives free access to the Movistar Play movies and series streaming service.
Telefónica announced the launch of DTH in Costa Rica in December. Sky and Claro also operate in that country, offering packages from ¢11,715 (USD 20) and ¢ 12,500 (USD 22), respectively, according to El Financiero.
