Telecommunications company Movistar (Telefonica) in Chile added three new channels in high definition (HD) to the grid of its Pay-TV operator and, with a total of 72, continues as a leader in the supply of signals with this quality in that country.
Since May 1st, Movistar TV incorporated HD versions of Animal Planet, TBS and MTV channels at frequencies 838, 864 and 904, respectively. The company has 21.6% market share in Chile and is second in the ranking among Pay-TV operators.
In addition, it replaced the standard quality (SD) signals AMC, Europa Europa, ElGourmet, Film&Arts and Mas Chic (distributed by AMC Networks International Latin America) for the new Discovery Turbo, Golden, NatGeo Wild and Golden Edge.
In Chile, video revenues of Movistar in the first quarter of 2016 were of USD 62 million, which represents an increase of 6.3% in local currency, with a total of 646 thousand customers, or 5% more compared with the same period of 2015.
