Millicom finishes its Telefonica’s acquisition in Nicaragua

Millicom announced that it has completed the acquisition of Telefónica Nicaragua mobile operations, the first of the three subsidiaries of the Spanish company that it bought last February together with the Panamanian and Costa Rican ones. The transaction was valued at USD 437 million

With the acquisition, Tigo is adding about 4 million customers to its cable operations that it controls in the market.

Apart from that, Millicom will also be able to  cover more than 50% of the population in Nicaragua with 4G networks, accelerate its fixed and mobile services convergent offer consolidate itself in Central America, where last year it announced the acquisition of Cable Onda, the leading cable operator in Panama.
