Mexico’s Axtel launches streaming service


Mexican telecommunications company Axtel announced the launch of its OTT platform Axtel Play, which allows access to subscription services HBO GO, FOX Premium and Crackle.

The new platform is available to any Internet user, through connected devices, without the need to subscribe Axtel pay TV or other service.

Prices vary depending on the service selected. Users can subscribe to HBO GO for MX $149 (USD 8.3) per month, FOX Premium has a promotional price of MX$ 139 (USD 7.8) and Crackle costs MX$ (USD 3.9). It can be paid with credit cards, debit cards or in selected stores, according to information of its website.

Axtel Play allows access to films like “The Avengers” in Crackle, series such as “The Walking Dead” on FOX Premium and “Game of Thrones” on HBO GO, which will debut season 7 this Sunday, July 16.

“We know that users want to have total control over the content they consume. For this reason we created Axtel Play, a simple online entertainment service to subscribe and use, supported by the quality and popularity of content provided by Crackle, FOX Premium and HBO GO,” commented Axtel’s director of Strategy for Mass Market, Javier Rodríguez Pereyra.
