Mexico’s Megacable said in its Q3 report that its Xview interactive video platform reached 127,000 subscribers, only three months after its launch. Currently, this product covers 22 cities.
“Xview has had an excellent reception by our users, reaching 127,000 subscribers at the close of 3Q17. These results give us the confidence that the goals set for this platform will be achieved”, said the company in the report. Last September, the company’s CEO, Enrique Yamuni, said in an interview with NexTV News Latam that the goal is “to reach 500, 000 subscribers of Xview in 12 months.”
According to Megacable, “the interactive services offered through this platform have generated much interest among subscribers; therefore, we are confident that the acceptance of these new generation services will be an important driver for the development of the company’s video segment, aiming to create the best experience for the subscriber.”
At the end of Q317, the company’s video segment reached 2.97 million subscribers, with net adds of 46,000 subscriber. Megacable reported that 79% of the total subscriptions are digital, through 4.5 million set-top boxes. When compared with Q316, total pay TV base declined 2% (61,000 customers). Megacable also reported 2.51 million Internet subscribers (+ 18.8% YoY) and 1.38 million telephony subscribers (+ 30.5%).
