Mexican pay TV operator Megacable announced that it is no longer offering Televisa channels TDN, UTDN, Telemundo, Canal 2 Delay (Las Estrellas), Golden Premier and UFC.
In a statement to the Stock Exchange, Megacable reported “the unilateral termination of the distribution contract by Televisa Networks”, according to El Universal newspaper. The decision comes weeks after Megacable decided to withdraw 14 Televisa channels from its grid, after not renewing its contract with the Mexican media giant. The six channels were replaced by NFL Networks, NBA TV, Fox Sports 3, Planet X, I-Sat and Azteca 13 Delay.
In turn, Televisa said the conflict started after the operator refused to a subscribers audit. Megacable “knew for 15 days ago that it would lose TVN channels and preferred to initiate litigation instead of warning the subscribers, and all caused by preventing a review of the subscribers who watch our channels” Televisa said in a statement.
