Mediapro, Vice Studios ink co-production deal for Latin America

Audiovisual group Mediapro and Vice Studios have signed an agreement to co-develop and co-produce original scripted TV series. The alliance begins with “Border Republic”.
This series is set on the border between U.S. and Mexico, in Matamoros and Brownsville cities. In the context of the construction of the U.S.-Mexico wall, the series will show “the transformation of a character that gives us hope that this community and culture won’t be split in half,” both companies said in a statement. Production kicks off in 2019 throughout the natural landscapes on the border.
“We are very pleased to have Vice as a partner. We are confident that its enormous trajectory, along with Mediapro’s experience in scripted content, will provide unthinkable stories to our viewers,” said Laura Fernández Espeso, director of International Content at the Mediapro Group.
Andrés Reymondes, Vice LatAm & U.S. Hispanic CEO, commented: “This is the first of many scripted projects that we’ll be developing from Vice Studios LatAm in the coming years, and starting with Daniel (Burman content director at Mediapro U.S) and our friends at Mediapro is a privilege as well as a guarantee of commitment and the utmost quality.”
