Marvel characters to get own TV shows on Disney streaming service: Report

Disney is developing a number of limited series centered on popular Marvel characters, like Loki and the Scarlet Witch, along with other superheroes, for its streaming service, which is expected to launch in 2019, Variety reported.
According to the report, each series would include six to eight episodes. Marvel Studios will produce the shows and Kevin Feige, president of this unit, is expected to take a” hands-on role” in their creation.
The actors who played Loki and the Scarlet Witch in the “Avengers” films and their spin-offs are expected to play these same characters on the new shows. Variety said that Disney and Marvel haven’t confirmed these projects.
In August, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed some details about the company’s new direct-to-consumer service. The executive said it will cost less than Netflix because the price “will reflect” the lower volume.
Other projects for the streaming platform are a live-action series of ‘Star Wars’, a show based on “High School Musical” and a remake of ” Lady and the Tramp”, among others.
