Latin American VOD OTT market will record a 924% growth by 2016 El mercado OTT VOD de América Latina crecerá 924% hasta 2016

According to the entitled Video Streaming -OTT and TV Everywhere- report, drawn up by the consulting company Dataxis, by 2016 end, the Latin American VOD OTT market will record a total of 12,8 million active accounts. From 2011 to 2016, 11,55 million new accounts will have been added, that is, a 924% growth rate. This issue and other market trends will be addressed by experts over the course of the fourth edition of NexTV Latin America Summit 2011.

The report focuses on the 7 main Latin American markets: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela. In its analysis, Dataxis states that Latin American OTTs ‘ service offers have been present since 2009, but the service boomed in 2011, in terms of number of competitors. In November 2011, there were 15 Video-focused OTTs, three of which relied on regional scope -Netflix, Terra and Totalmovie- and some additional two willing to reach such scope: América Móvil and Bazuca.

NexTV Latin America Summit next edition will address this issue by means of special presentations. Pete Bryant, Avail-TVN SVP Business Development, will talk about “VOD business models for OTT and TV Everywhere”. In turn, Thierry Martin, Nagravision Regional Director South Latin America , will give a lectura about “Multiscreen and TV Revolution”. Emmanuel Jaffrot, director of Argentina Conectada, will give a conference about CDN with IPTV for VOD and OTT, while José Luís Vázquez, Mirada TV CEO will lecture about “TV Everywhere vs. OTT: the fight for consumers”.

Moreover, Verimatrix will address “IPTV and OTT Convergence”; Sandra Conejos, director of Amino for Latin America, will give a conference entitled “Maximizing OTT in the IPTV Market “; and Andrés Bargues, Telefónica Multimedia Service Manager, will share his experience with “On Video”. Additionally, Leonardo Gioino, Latin American Director of Minerva Networks, will lecture about “Broadband TV and TV Everywhere”.

Among those who will also be present, the telephone cooperatives Telpin, Telviso and TelVGG, whose representatives will be present at the event, are planning to launch VOD through Streaming.
