Latam drives Millicom growth in Q417

Telecommunications company Millicom announced its financial results for Q417. In its report, the company highlighted the performance of its operation in Latin America. “Growth returned to our Latam markets during the second half of 2017”, said Millicom CEO, Mauricio Ramos.
According to the executive, this growth is the result of a “strategic focus on building digital highways and accelerating the transition from legacy voice and SMS to high-speed data services, both in mobile and fixed.”
In 2017, the company’s total revenues in Latin America were USD 5.4 billion, up 1.7% from previous year. During the fourth quarter of 2017, revenues increased 1.3% to USD 1.4 billion, driven by markets such as Bolivia, Paraguay and El Salvador.
Millicom reported 31.9 million mobile lines in Latin America, of which 6.9 million are 4G customers. In the fixed segment, the company registered 9.1 million total home passed (of which 8.4 million were HFC home passed). The HFC network reached 4.4 million RGUs.
