Keshet International (KI) is opening up a new production hub in Mexico –Keshet MX– to serve Latin America and the US Spanish market.
The new subsidiary will be led by Kelly Wright, KI’s head of Latin America while Frank Scheuermann, head of development and production for Latin America, will be in charge of the team on the ground. Keshet MX will produce originals, third-party and coproduced shows. “Last year was a momentous year for us in Latin America; launching a production company in Mexico City is a natural next step”, said Wright, according to TBI Vision.
“There will always be a place for great telenovelas and primetime entertainment, and alongside it there is also a growing appetite for more digital content and programming with international flavour, for which we are renowned. The idea is to offer these solutions in an organic fashion, together with local partners, to create the best fit for the market”, the executive added.
KI has already sold several TV formats in Latin America. Among them are “Rising Star” and “Boom on air”. In addition, the new prime time musical reality competition show called “Heart Beats” will premiere soon on Telefe (Viacom) from Argentina. The format is the result of the two companies’ co-development deal struck in 2015. KI also has programming deals with Televisa and Telemundo.
