Arris International announced that Izzi Telecom (Televisa) deployed the ME-7000 Converged Compression Platform in its cable TV operation in Mexico. Through this solution, izzi will deliver new HDTV programming to its subscribers and increase bandwidth efficiency, making spectrum available for additional services.
In a press release, Arris said that the Mexican operator will benefit from the lowest total cost of ownership available from a single compression platform, coupled with the ability to deliver more, higher-quality channels to more subscribers, across multiple devices. The platform also supports future upgrades to HEVC and Ultra HD services, including 4K and HDR.
According to Israel Corona, Engineering and Development Director at izzi Telecom “pay TV and broadband data usage is growing rapidly in Mexico, and Izzi is focused on utilizing its spectrum efficiently to anticipate this demand”.
