Industry leaders to discuss the value of exclusive content in pay TV competition

The next edition of NexTV CEO Latin America, on November 1 & 2 in Miami, will have an executive panel that will discuss the value of exclusive content in pay TV competition, with the participation of DirecTV Colombia and premium TV networks Fox and HBO.
The panel will feature José Daniel Gómez, general manager of DirecTV Colombia; Francisco Smith, President of Distribution and New Media Development of HBO Latin America; Gonzalo Fiure, EVP Entertainment of Fox Networks Latin America and Paul Ragland, Vice President of Sales, Americas of Irdeto.
The executive panel will address, among other topics, the emergence of direct-to-consumer offers in the region. Fox and HBO already have this type of initiative, which allows TV programmers to expand the reach of their content.
In addition, the executives will analyze the add-on channels model, the changes in traditional subscribers’ consumption, the new wave of original content piracy, strategies to avoid churn and retain subscribers, and how the premium content acts as a differentiator for operators.
Another topic will be the importance of the original premium content and the value of local productions. On the side of the networks, Fox and HBO maintain a strong commitment to local original content. Among other projects, HBO announced in June the production of its first Colombian series, “Mil colmillos”. In addition, it renewed the Brazilian “The secret life of couples” for a second season and currently broadcasts the final season of “Magnífica 70”.
Fox also has an active presence in the Colombian market. Currently, it is filming in the country its new original production “El General Naranjo”. In addition, the group has a portfolio with local titles such as “El Host”, “Talento Fox”, “Llámame Bruna” and “Run Coyote Run”, among others.
DirecTV, on the other hand, maintains the focus on sports content and the production of series like “Todo por el Juego”, co-produced in partnership with Mediapro.

NexTV CEO Latin America will be held at the Biltmore Hotel in Miami. See the full agenda here.
