HBO announced the launch of HBO GO as a subscription service in Brazil available to broadband customers of telecommunications company Oi. This is the first agreement in Brazil. Meanwhile, the TV network is preparing to extend the SVOD option to more Latin American countries.
HBO GO will be available in Brazil from December 7. The monthly subscription price for Oi’s fixed broadband clients will be R$ 34.90 (USD 10.2). Initially, it will be available in the states of Espirito Santo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Bahia and in the Federal District. And it will reach new states from the first quarter of 2017.
On the other hand, HBO Latin America announced that the updated version of HBO GO, with new interface and functions, is now available as TV Everywhere service for clients of HBO/MAX premium pack in Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela. The platform also arrived for the first time in the Dominican Republic. This is the previous step for HBO to start offering the SVOD model with broadband operators in those countries, as it does in Argentina, Mexico, Colombia and Brazil soon.
