HBO GO standalone service prepares its expansion in Brazil. In a statement sent to the local news site IDG Now!, the press area of the company stated that “HBO Latin America is working on a new way to offer HBO GO in the Brazilian market. We will soon reveal details of the service.”
Meanwhile, the new website “Discover HBO GO” is already operational and a message says: “Get ready, soon you will know a new way to have HBO.” This year, the company announced the arrival of the service to the digital platforms Apple App Store and Google Play Store in 17 countries in Latin America, among which Brazil was not included.
In turn, Brazilian operators Vivo (Telefónica) and Oi have already revealed the individual prices of the service on their websites. For Vivo broadband customers, HBO GO will cost of R$ 29.90 (USD 9.3) per month, while for Oi subscribers the price is R$ 34.90 (USD 10.8) per month.
Oi already has an agreement with HBO GO, but the operator initially launched the service in limited areas (the states of Espirito Santo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Bahia and the Federal District). This year, Oi launched new plans for broadband customers that also have HBO GO (within the Oi Total Play Top package, which also includes Fox Premium, ESPN and Crackle, among others). However, HBO GO is expected to gain even more presence as standalone service.
