Google blocks YouTube on Amazon devices

Google announced that is pulling its YouTube app from Amazon’s Echo Show and Fire TV devices in response to the refusal of the retail company to sell some of its products.
The Internet giant announced this week that it blocked access to YouTube on Echo Show and plans to remove YouTube from Fire TV video platform from January 1. “We’ve been trying to reach agreement with Amazon to give consumers access to each other’s products and services,” a Google spokesperson said in a statement.
According to the company, “Amazon doesn’t carry Google products like Chromecast and Google Home, doesn’t make Prime Video available for Google Cast users, and last month stopped selling some of Nest’s latest products. Given this lack of reciprocity, we are no longer supporting YouTube on Echo Show and FireTV. We hope we can reach an agreement to resolve these issues soon.”
In response, Amazon said in the statement “Google is setting a disappointing precedent by selectively blocking customer access to an open website.”
