GolTV selected to broadcast Ecuadorian soccer league

Representatives of 24 teams in Ecuador have selected the company GolTV as the winner of the TV rights to broadcast the domestic soccer league, for the next ten years, according to local media.
There were four companies interested in the process: DirecTV, GolTV, Teleamazonas and Fox Sports. The representatives had two meetings. In the first one, the offer presented by DirecTV, in association with TV Cable and Univisa, was selected as winner. In the second one, after a break, GolTV was finally chosen as the new TV rights owner, according to El Comercio.
In 2017, the Uruguayan company, owned by Paco Casal, had signed a TV rights deal with the Ecuadorian Soccer Federation (FEF) for the TV rights. However, the justice suspended that contract.
Meanwhile, some of the teams have already live-streamed their games through YouTube. In fact, Emelec plans to enter fully into the streaming area with the launch of EmelecTV channel, which will be launched in the coming weeks, according to El Universo. The objective is “to help efficiently monetize all digital assets through any mobile device,” the team’s marketing department told the Ecuadorian newspaper.
