Facebook partners with CNN, Fox News and Univision to launch original news shows

Facebook announced the launch of new original news shows, which will be part of a dedicated section within its Watch video platform. For this initiative, the social network partnered with ABC, Fox News, CNN and Univision – which will offer content in Spanish- among others companies. They will debut later this summer (in the Northern Hemisphere).
The shows, funded by Facebook, are part of the company’s commitment to “show news that is trustworthy, informative, and local on Facebook”, said Campbell Brown, Head of Global News Partnerships, in a blog post.
According to the executive, the shows will be hosted by award-winning journalists, as well as new faces, and the formats will vary from a mix of daily briefings, weekly deep dives, and live breaking news coverage.
The slate of new shows includes ABC News’ daily show “On Location”; CNN’s “Anderson Cooper Full Circle”; Fox News’ “Fox News Update” and Univision’s “Real America with Jorge Ramos”, where the journalist will talk to immigrants of diverse backgrounds and situations. Univision will also cover the top stories in Spanish at noon every day on Watch with “Noticiero Univision Edición Digital.” In this way, it will be the only media producing Spanish-language content for the platform. Other Facebook partners are Alabama Media Group ATTN and Mic.
