American sports programmer ESPN launched in Brazil a fourth Pay-TV signal in high-definition (HD). ESPN Extra is for now only available on the Cable TV operator Cabo Telecom in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
The new channel will broadcast soccer matches of local championships of U-20 and U-17 inferior divisions and international soccer matches of the Spanish, English, German, Dutch and Italian leagues. In addition, American college tournaments, the NHL and other hockey games, tennis, rugby, boxing and extreme sports.
The network already has in Brazil three other Pay-TV signals: ESPN HD, ESPN Brazil and ESPN+. In other Latin American countries, ESPN Extra functions as a temporary alternative channel for special rugby, tennis, golf, polo and soccer sporting events.
