ESPN Brazil increases investments in eSports

ESPN Brazil announced that it will increase its investments in eSports this year with the incorporation of new weekly TV shows on its programming, as well as the broadcast of new championships in different categories.

Starting in February, the channel will offer three new shows on its lineup. The first one, called “Multiplayer”, will air every Thursday and will feature an eSports simulator. In turn, “Match Making” will be broadcast on Fridays and will address the main topics of the market in Brazil, with interviews to professional players and coverage of the competitions in the country, while “Arena eSports”, on Saturday, will show what happens in the international market.

The sports channel also has an agreement with ESL, the major eSports producer, to broadcast this year the modalities of the Brazil Premier League. As part of this agreement, ESPN + and the TV Everywhere platform WatchESPN will exhibit  more than 100 events organized by the ESL, which will total 200 hours of transmission.

“The creation of a fixed programming of eSports within our channels is proof of the growth of the audience that want this type of content. We are proud to have been the first sports channel to create an area dedicated to eSports, our objective is to be closer to the fans in the most varied platforms and modalities,” said Alexandre Biancamano, New Business Director of ESPN in Brazil.
