Entel’s Q1 pay TV revenue up 26%

Telecommunications company Entel Chile has presented its Q117 report in which it registered pay TV revenues of Ch$ 7.95 million (USD 11.7 million), up 26% (in local currency) compared to same period last year. The company reached 131,000 DTH subscribers.

Consolidated revenues during the quarter reached Ch$ 477.0 billion (USD 660 million), a 3% increase compared to 1Q16, mainly driven by the mobile services of Entel Perú (+29%).

However, Entel’s net income fell 41% year-on-year to 14.1 billion (20.9 million), declining from Ch$24.0 billion (USD 35.4 million) posted in Q116, due to the costs related to the consolidation of its business in Peru.

The company plans to invest USD 1.8 billion over the next three years (2017-2019), mainly to maintain its networks in Chile and expand its infrastructure in Peru. About USD1.2 billion will be destined to the local market and the rest to the Peruvian operation.
