Entel Peru offers YouTube for prepaid customers without using data

Telecommunication company Entel Peru is offering its prepaid customers the possibility of watching videos on YouTube without consuming data, for one hour per day. This option is valid for three months for clients with a current recharge of S/.5 (USD 1.5).
“Knowing that mobile clients use their data mainly to watch videos online, with YouTube as the main platform, and that these are replacing TV as the main source of entertainment, we think of the prepaid user, who in addition of be informed, can enjoy all the content associated with the next sporting event that has everyone expectant, “said Ignacio Nores, VP of Market People of Entel.
In the last year, 7 out of 10 connected Peruvians access YouTube every day, according to a Google/ Ipsos study. On the other hand, a Google/TNS study claims that the video platform has become part of the lives of 11 million Peruvians.
Entel Peru is the third largest operator in the market in number of subscribers, behind Movistar and Claro. At the end of Q417, 65.6% of the total base were prepaid subscribers, according to data from Dataxis.
