DocuBay, SVOD platform focused on documentaries, to be launched in July

The DocuBay platform, which will offer a catalog focused exclusively on documentaries, plans its global commercial launch for July, including Latin American countries. It is an SVOD platform based in India, whose main contents will focus on several genres, mainly science, history, nature and culture.

‘DocuBay can be accessed from all over the world and most of the titles we are acquiring are with global rights’, said Akul Tripathi, Chief Operating Officer of the platform. In addition, he anticipated that the catalog will have several Latin American titles. One of them will be ‘Eagles of the forest’, from Brazil, which will focus on a local football team in the Amazon rainforest. Titles of the DocuBay offer will be available mainly in English (both dubbed and subtitled) during the launching phase, although other languages may be included.

Launched in a beta plan at the moment, DocuBay offers a 40 titles sample, which can be accessed from the application and the platform’s website. ‘When we launch in a commercial way, our promise is to launch a new title a day, at least during the first year,” said Tripathi. In addition, the contents displayed can be downloaded to watch them offline on most iOS and Android devices, smart TVs and computers. The monthly subscription value was not reported yet, but the platform has planned for the service to  be paid through app stores, on the website, and also to be part of telecommunication companies packages.
