Disney resumes talks to buy Fox’s assets

Walt Disney Company has restarted discussions to purchase most of 21st Century Fox, the Wall street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the situation.
As previously reported, negotiations include Fox’s film and television studios, U.S pay TV networks and international assets like Sky and Star India. However, the deal would not include Fox news, Fox’s broadcast network or sports network FS1. Murdoch family aims to make a decision on whether to do a deal by the end of the year.
In early November, several media reported that Disney and 21st Century Fox had started negotiations. Comcast, Sony Pictures and Verizon are also reportedly interested in Fox assets.
If the deal completes, Disney’s content library would gain important additions from Fox assets such as Marvel’s X-Men and James Cameron’s Avatar, among others.
