Colombia: TV manufacturers expect sales boost during FIFA World Cup

The main TV manufacturers in Colombia expect the Soccer World Cup to boost sales in the country, as it usually happens during big sporting events. Samsung’s Audio and Video Director in Colombia, Marlon Acuña told local media El Colombiano that the sales of the brand in 2018 could increase by up to 48%.
Samsung leads the local market with 47% share. According to the report from the Colombian media, sales in a year without World Cup tend to grow an average of 25% but in 2018, they could increase up to 48% using the 2014 World Cup in Brazil as a reference.
In turn, LG, which has a market share of 38%, estimates that sales will increase by 25%, according to calculations made by the company. In this way, they expect to sell around 500,000 TV sets, compared to 400,000 in 2017. Meanwhile, Sony Colombia (with 20% market share), did not disclose their estimates.
The local company Kalley, which has a 15% market share, estimates sales growth of around 23%. According to the Produc Manager Julián Orozco, the company could reach the goal of 300,000 sales units this year, compared to 230,000 in 2017.
