Claro Video displaced Televisa and TV Azteca and will broadcast for free Rio 2016 in Mexico

OTT Video On Demand (VOD) platform Claro Video (America Movil) will broadcast in Mexico the coverage of the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games for free. The company displaced Televisa and TV Azteca, the main private Free-to-Air TV networks in that country.

America Movil had secured the broadcasting rights for Pay-TV channel Claro Sports, broadcasted through Dish (MVS), Axtel and Megacable operators. It will share the coverage with Pay-TV networks ESPN and Fox Sports and public Free-to-Air TV channels Canal 11, of the National Polytechnic Institute, and Canal 22, of the Ministry of Culture of Mexico.

The Director of Claro Sports and video news website Uno TV (also of America Movil), Arturo Elias Ayub, said in an interview with local station Radio Formula that there will be up to 36 simultaneous events so that, through Claro Video, users will be able to choose between disciplines, cameras, when and where they want to watch them.
