Claro reinforces its DTH service in Brazil

DTH operator Claro (América Móvil) is changing its strategy in the Brazilian market. Next week, it will present a new image and features, the company announced in a promotional video. In turn, local news site TelaViva reported that Agrício Silva Neto, who was previously VP of Marketing at Sky, was named as CEO of a new unit created specifically to serve the satellite TV business, reporting directly to President José Félix.
According to the report, the appointment of Silva Neto was announced internally at Sky. He will be replaced by Gustavo Fonseca, who was in charge of the intelligence area of the company. América Móvil decided to create a specific area for its satellite TV in order to give it competitiveness and better serve the needs and dynamics of this segment. So far, the DTH was included in the fixed residential business unit, along with cable operator Net, broadband and telephony services.
Meanwhile, Claro plans to launch a new image on January 16, that will be “more practical, easier to use and with many more features”, as reported in the promotional video. The operator will allow the access to “NOW” VOD service directly from the set-top box (connected to the Internet), as well as the Claro Música application. In addition, the TV guide will show the programming of the next 30 days and there will be improvements in the search tool and DVR system.
