Claro Chile focuses on residential, SME segment

Claro announced that it will invest USD 300 million in Chile, in the next three years, in the residential and SME segment, which includes pay TV operations. Among the projects, the company is working on a new hybrid set-top box with access to the Claro Video streaming service.
“The new investments will be focused on infrastructure and the increase of technological capabilities of our services, aimed at providing good service and ensuring the necessary bandwidth to respond to this evolution of consumption,” Alfonso Emperanza, Claro’s Residential market Director, said to El Mercurio.
“In the fixed businesses we have been seeing significant growth in recent times, particularly in the home segment, we are talking about a 20% increase, which has driven us to maintain our investments.”
Emperanza also said that there is a more consumption of content via streaming, and for this reason, the company is working to launch “a set-top box for TVs that are not smart, which includes the Claro Video application, to access using the same remote control”. It will be available for both pay TV and DTH customers. Claro already offers this type of STB in the Colombian market.
