Claro Brasil bets on VOD

Agricio Silva Neto, CEO of Claro Brasil’s DTH unit said that “VOD consumption has become stronger and more popular” in the country, allowing customers to be able to customize their pay TV experience. In an interview with Via Satellite, the executive also pointed that the offer of 4K content is still “very limited” in Brazil.
According to the executive, “Now is the largest VOD platform in Brazil and one of the largest in the world. It is a fundamental part of our business strategy, as it brings customers loyalty, and drastically reduces churn,” Neto said.
Initially, Claro TV customers could only access Now services through websites and applications. Now the company is deploying hybrid set-top boxes that allow users to access the service via TV sets.
Regarding the deployment of 4K, the executive said that the offer of 4K content “is still very limited” in the country. “I personally do not believe in the rapid growth of 4K services in Brazil. But I can say when we see a customer demand for 4K, we will be ready,” he concluded.
