Chile recorded 3.25 million pay TV subs in Q317

According to figures from the most recent report of Chilean regulator Subtel, the pay TV market in the country ended the third quarter of 2017 with 3.25 million subscribers, up 7.5% from previous year.
The report revealed that satellite TV systems accounted 50.3% of total subscribers, and cable and IPTV systems the remaining 47.9%. The largest pay TV operator, VTR, registered 1.06 million subscribers (32.8% of market share). Telefónica reached 673,000 users (20.7%), followed by DirecTV with more than 623,000 (19.2%) and Claro with 407,000 subscribers (12.5%). Among these operators, the DTH of América Móvil was the only one that lost subscribers: 1.1% in the quarter and 2.5% in the year.
Right behind the main operators of the market were Entel with 138,000 pay TV customers (4.2%), Telefónica del Sur with 105,000 (3.2%), Pacífico Cable with 102,000 (3.2%) and GTD with 32,000 (1%).
