Cablevision Argentina launched Flow, a new platform integrating linear TV, VOD and TV Everywhere

Argentinian MSO Cablevision (Clarín Group) has officially launched its new product, Flow. It’s a new platform which uses hybrid STBs and integrates all of the linear TV channels, VOD services and the TV Everywhere features. The system was in a testing stage since a few months ago, and was available only to a few customers.
During the presentation, Cablevision General Manager, Gonzalo Hita talked about the main advantages of the new product. “The client can pause contents, watch from the beginning an already started show and go to the past of any of our channels up to 24 hours, program the recording of any content, use a smartphone as a remote and watch any content from any device”. He also mentioned that users will have to create a profile, and that the platform includes a “potent search engine”.
The new product has two functionalities: Flow App, which is the app that allows access to all the settings for mobile devices and Flow Box, a new STB through which the user can access to all the features in their TVs.
Flow app is an added benefit, available to all the subscribers of the HD plan. For the rest of the users the plan will have a monthly cost of U$D 6.63 (added to the monthly fee). In order to access to Flow Box, HD subscribers must request the new equipment and will be charge for the installation as well as a maintenance fee (around 15% of the HD plan, as NexTV News was able to find out).
Flow is available since November 9 for the City of Buenos Aires, the metropolitan area and the city of La Plata. The operator plans to add new cities during the first half of 2017.
For this development Cablevision invested over U$D 90 million and partnered with Contentwise, Anevia, Minerva, Verimatrix and Arris for technological developments.
