Brazil’s TIM offers three months of Netflix free of charge to its fixed broadband clients

Brazilian telecommunications company TIM (Telecom Italia) announced an agreement with Netflix to offer three months of free access to the U.S OTT streaming service for customers subscribing to the pack TIM Live (fixed broadband) plus TIM Fixo (fixed telephony).

According to TIM, this agreement is part of the company’s strategy to encourage consumption of relevant data. TIM said that about 40% of TIM Live customer base uses Netflix. In August, the Brazilian company ranked first in Netflix’s ISP Speed Index.

TIM is the only major telecommunications companies in the country that does not offer pay TV, unlike its competitors Oi, Claro and Telefonica. The service TIM Live is offered by the company through its fiber optic network available in the cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
