Brazil’s Gol presents first aircraft equipped with Internet, in-flight entertainment

The first Boeing 737 of the Brazilian airline Gol with 2ku technology for Internet and in-flight video services has arrived in Brazil. The first flight with the new features is expected to take place this year. The company Gogo is the provider of the technology.

Thus, Gol will become the first Brazilian airline to offer onboard Wi-Fi internet access during the flight period. For this service to be possible, 2ku antennas were installed in Gol’s airplanes. The company prepared a video showing the installation process.

Before starting its service, the company must receive certification from the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).

According to the Director of Products and Customer Experience, “the first flight is expected to take place this year”. It is estimated that in less than two years the complete fleet of the Brazilian company will have the system available “to provide the most comprehensive in-flight entertainment platform available on the market”.

For this initiative, Gol partnered with Gogo (based in Illinois, USA), a company focused on connectivity and entertainment solutions in the global air market.
