Blim signs deal with Telefónica in Mexico

Telefónica and Televisa’s Blim announce they have signed a deal to offer the mobile operator’s customers access to all the contents of the streaming platform at a “preferential price”.

Under the terms of the agreement, mobile customers of Movistar with plans with prices above MX$ 569 (USD 30) will have acces to Blim for free, while users with plans below that price will have a preferential rate of MX $99 (USD 5.3), the company said in a statement.

Carlos Sandoval, CEO of Blim, said that this alliance will allow the company to increase the number of clients. In Mexico, Telefónica had 26.6 million mobile users at the end of Q416.

This way, Blim team up with Telefónica to strengthen itself in its competition with América Móvil, which offers the contents of its OTT Claro Video to users of Telcel, the country’s leading mobile operator.
