Axtel from Mexico added 15,000 new Pay-TV subscribers in 2015

Telecommunications company Axtel from Mexico reached a total of 109,000 video subscribers at December 13th, 2015, an increase of 15,000 units or 16% compared to the 94,000 registered by the end of the previous year. The data comes from its quarterly report for the fourth quarter of 2015, which also includes its annual review.

 

In its Internet and video category, Axtel had in Q4 2015 revenues for USD 20.6 million, up 9% (always in local currency) compared with the USD 18.8 million of the same period of 2014, driven by growth of 39% of its Pay-TV service. The company had annual revenues in the same division for USD 79 million, an increase of 11% compared to 2014, “due to the increased video penetration in the fiber customer base”.

 

Axtel reported for Q4 2015 revenues in all of its operations for USD 150 million, 19% more than in the same period of 2014, and a 4% increase in its EBITDA. In 2015, Axtel had total revenues of USD 538 million, USD 23.4 million less than in 2014.

 

Axtel and telecommunications company Alestra (Alfa Group) from Mexico have concluded a merger process that will take effect on February 15th. Alfa Group will control 51% of the company, which will keep the name of the first company. Axtel offers IPTV in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Toluca, San Luis Potosi, Queretaro, Puebla, Aguascalientes, Ciudad Juarez and Leon.
