Argentinian MSO Cablevisión reached 490 thousand subscribers to the premium pack of local soccer after River-Boca

According to NexTV News, the Argentine telecommunications operator Cablevisión (Grupo Clarín) already has 490 thousand subscribers to the Pack Fútbol, the premium package of two sports channels that allows to watch all the matches of the soccer local championship. That figure was reached after the last weekend, in which the most outstanding classic of that country, River-Boca, was played.

“Between Saturday and Sunday, 60 thousand packs were hired,” Mariana Giacumbo, Communications Manager of Cablevisión, told NexTV News, referring to the day before and the day of the match, in which Boca defeated River by 2 to 1.

Argentine soccer began to be paid on Friday, October 27, when Fox and Turner, the networks that own television rights since the middle of this year, stopped broadcasting the games through their basic Pay TV channels and began to transmit them only through their premium channels, Fox Sports Premium and TNT Sports. Pay TV subscribers who have not hired the pack can only see four matches (of 14 that the tournament has each weekend).

Local media reported that among all Pay TV operators the number of hired packages is already 1,100,000, although NexTV News confirmed with Fox that this number is not official. NexTV News also consulted the rest of the main operators but they did not provide information.
