Argentina’s convergent bill delayed once again

Through a resolution published in the official gazette, the Ministry of Modernization of Argentina extended for a 90-days period the deadline for the presentation of a preliminary draft bill of the Convergent Communications Law.
The new regulation will reform, update and unify the Audiovisual Communication Services Law (Law No. 26,522) and the Argentina Digital Law (27,078). The resolution 490/2018 of the Ministry of Modernization was published on August 13 and marks the fourth postponement, El Cronista reported.
In early 2016, the Government announced the creation of a drafting commission for the Convergent Law. In order to elaborate the bill, meetings and seminars were held with different actors of the industry. However, the document is not yet available. Once it is presented, the Executive Power will send it to Congress.
