America Movil acquires 2018-2024 Olympics TV rights in Latin America

Mexican company America Movil, through its subsidiary AMX Contenido, has acquired the broadcast rights in 17 territories across Latin America for the Olympic Games from 2018 to 2024.
The telecommunications firm has acquired the exclusive digital broadcast rights in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
In turn, it obtained exclusive Pay TV rights in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela; and non-exclusive Pay TV rights in Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Panama.
During the same period, America Movil will also show the Youth Olympic Games in digital platforms and pay TV in all the above countries (non-exclusive rights).
Arturo Elias Ayub, América Móvil’s Director of Strategic Alliances and Contents, said: “We are pleased to reach a new agreement with the International Olympic Committee to broadcast the Olympic Games for the next six years, where we will continue to use innovative formats taking full advantage of technological developments to increase the awareness and interest of Latin American audiences in the Olympic Games and the Olympic values, while giving the viewer the power to choose the moment and way to follow all the action of the Games.”
